Banquet Fruit Pies: sweet incremental sales

Banquet turns pie, a classic American comfort food, into a frozen-aisle opportunity for today. The single-serve line of Banquet Fruit Pies suits small households, and delivers portion control and value. Each real-fruit pie satisfies snack-eating occasions and is an incremental purchase for 78% of consumers, ConAgra Foods research shows. Indeed, the line's sales are 95% incremental to Banquet Dinners and Banquet Pot Pies.

Launched last month, the Banquet Fruit Pies line comes in apple, cherry-berry and peach flavors' all with a half-serving of real fruit and flaky crust, and all fast, neat and easy to heat in the microwave or oven.

The innovative dessert has quickly posted dollar sales per store greater than the average new item launch of a single-serve. Some 79% of Banquet Pot Pie consumers expressed a strong purchase interest in Banquet Fruit Pies. Also, nearly half of Banquet core users buy frozen pies (45%1) and support the sales surge in single-serve frozen desserts.

What's for dinner? More say 'frozen'

"We rarely cook from scratch anymore. We're on the move. Double-income families are more prevalent, and people want convenient alternatives that help them produce a family meal," notes John Plaso, vice president-business development, ConAgra Foods.
